Championships and Accolades:
• The Island hosted the Irish qualifying course for the Open Championship in 2005.
• In 2004, the Ladies Amateur Close Championship and the European Youth Amateur Championship were hosted at the Island. • The Island Golf Club previously hosted the Irish Amateur Close Championship in 1998 and the Smurfit Irish PGA Championship in 1999.
• In the November 2005 issue of Golf World, the Island Golf Club is listed as No 26 in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World.
• Golf Digest Magazine Ranks The Island as No. 17 in Ireland – May 2005
