San Lorenzo

Vale do Lobo (Almancil), Algarve, Portugal

Currently rated as number five in continental Europe, San Lorenzo is located in the unspoilt southeast corner of Quinta do Lago. It was designed by American Joe Lee, and opened in 1988 and is known for its superb condition every day of the year. The course plays as a figure eight, weaving its way through valleys of umbrella pines, along the shore of the Ria Formosa estuary (an internationally important wintering area for migrant birds) around lakes and on past Roman ruins.

  • Rated Number 1 in Portugal by Golf Digest Magazine (USA), April 2005, October 2003
