Marbella Golf & Country Club

Marbella, Costa del Sol, Spain

One of the most exciting courses recently designed by Robert Trent Jones, The Marbella Golf & Country Club uses the rolling Andalucian hillside to provide a testing but enjoyable round. The course has gently undulating fairways that meander between the olive groves. There are also several lakes which must be negotiated and bunkers abound. The course has lovely views to the sea and is located only minutes from central Marbella and Puerto Banus. This course is recommended for those with less than a 24 handicap.

Note: April 8, 2009: Due to the property disputes Marbella Golf have had with an abutting land owner, they will be embarking on a new redesign of the golf course which will involve the construction of some new holes. They will be starting the work in the beginning of May and the new golf course will be ready for the next high season starting from the 1st October 2009. The construction of these new holes will not interrupt in any way the play on the golf course routing that they are using at the moment. The new design will be far superior to Marbella Golf's existing lay-out.

While they are redesigning the golf course they have decided to reroute the play on the existing holes. From Monday the 20th April until the 30th September 2009, the course will be played as follows (see map at right):
Play the first 8 holes and then go to the old 13th tee as your 9th hole. This will stop all players from coming up to the clubhouse and doubling back on themselves, and be much safer for everyone. There is also a very short distance from 8th green to old 13th tee, so the players will not get lost. You then play on from the old 13th to the 18th, so the old 18th hole will be your 14th hole and you will play this hole to the old 9th green. Then run round the back of clubhouse up to first tee. Then you play 1, 2, 3 and 4 again as your 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes. The par will be 73. If you wish to play also the 5th and 6th holes again to get back to the Club House to complete 20 holes, you may do so.
