Benamor Golf

Quinta do Benamor (Conceição Tavira), Algarve, Portugal

Designed by Sir Henry Cotton, Benamor was the first course built east of Faro in the Algarve. There are views to the Atlantic and Tavira Island to the south and towards the hills and valleys in the north. The first hole is a par 4 dogleg with an elevated green protected by bunkers. Many of the par 4s on the front nine are relatively short, so this course is friendly to all playing levels. On the back nine, water comes into play on the 10th hole, a par 3 over water, on the 13th where a stream crosses the fairway, and on the 17th where a pond guards the green. To finish, there is a long par 5 of 512 metres. The 18th green is backed by a charming Algarvean church -- another pretty spot to enjoy.
